Southern Lagos Part 1

Wish I could get something better than this for breakfast, oh! Now I miss home! Georgina muttered.

Interesting! You must be new in SLC if I’m right? Adeola gave a smirk at Georgina who was seating few steps opposite her coach at the canteen.

Oh! Never knew that came out loud, Georgina smiled. My name is Georgina and I’m a transfer student from Gombe, my parents work for ………

Babe, I know who your parents are, no one enters SLC without my knowledge. That aside, my name is Adeola Craig of the Craig Empire, my online life is notable than physical obviously as deeglobe – anything cyber, I’m in. And you are Georgina Goje, G.G for short, the only daughter of the Silent Billionaire in Nigeria, I’d stop there for now…

Woah! You really are deeglobe!

Welcome to Southern Lagos College; Only for the 1% of the 1% population of the nation and be glad Motunde and Chinyere did not hear you say that about breakfast.

Who are those?

Another mistake in one day, stay safe girl. I’ve a class now, see you later. I’m in my final years and I’ve remained inconspicuous till now, try do that my Form 4 friend.

Adeola waved at her and left the cafeteria with her laptop, fixing ear-pods back into her ears.

….

Georgina watched her go out, reliving the shortest and first conversation she was having with a student from SLC.

Deeglobe wearing “The Patagonia Baggies” and an oversized tees with “Weird only cycle” printed on it, she couldn’t take the moments off her head until the voice over the speakers hanged in the cafeteria shuffled the playlist on her medulla;

Good Morning Scholars! Miss Modupe coughed gently as she started her morning mantra.

Trust you all had a great night?

Well, even if you didn’t there’s no way you going back to bed

It’s a new week, we have a transfer student joining us

when we assemble by evening, she would be introduced officially.

Our brains are just like a light switch. When we’re “off” we don’t see much but when we’re “on” we see everything: the positivity, possibilities, potential, and perspective. Every now and then, we need a tool to help us harness our “on” power for better focus and enhanced internal connection……….

Blah blah blah…… Jide muttered as he walked by Georgina in the cafeteria, noticing her quietness and outlook from his reaction he stopped and smiled.

You must be the new girl on the block, nobody listens to that, my name is Jide and you are?

Georgina, are you also in your finals?

Me, no oh… Jide smiled, Form 4.

Interesting, same here.

Let’s go then, so you’d be free from the vultures and scorpions

Vultures and scorpions? The last time I checked, we are in school not a zoo Jide, they both laughed as they walked down the east corridor leading to the reception.

You will understand soon, babe…

Well, if you say so. Where do I submit this? She handed out her class form to Jide

Straight up to the staff chalet, our house master – Daddy Africa is in charge but that would be after our first two classes this morning, catch up we are getting late, two floors to go!
